Gaya Street CNY 2010 celebration

Today (actually a few days earlier ..., now only i manage to start this penning) li fei and I went to Gaya street since we got to know that there are some CNY celebration going on over there.. so my boss had been machine-gunning me for the past 1 and a half year for never bringing her to sabah pasar malam.. So here comes the opportunity, so we just head down to Gaya street straight after our family dinner.. so i left my pitiful mum home with my dad, Why pitiful? cause apparently my dad is not an enthusiast in pasar malam or pagi kinda thing.. thats why she has never been to one ever since she came here (that was like 8 or 9 years already). I have asked her to join, but she didnt want to join, maybe because she thought will kacau us pak tohing or simply because dont want to leave my dad alone in the house.. so, without much persuasion being done, we grab the keys and most importantly my 1000D and the 50mm f1.8 lens..

i have always been trying to appreciate the 50mm, since everyone in the photomalaysia.com has been heavily promoting this lens, but not until recently only i found out the magic in it.. Really.. initially, i found this lens pretty dumb hahaha.. coz u cant zoom for ONE, then no IS some more.. then it is50mm on a crop body (my 1000d) so it gives around 80+mm.. so very hard to take pic in close distance.. I almost consider to sell it off in the BUY/SELL forum in photomalaysia.com

But after a few outing with it.. i finally understand its greatness.. Definitely a very SHARP and FAST lens, and it makes wonders in low light..

below are all taken with my precious 50mm f1.8...

So this is my boss.. have been telling everyone the same thing...
I drive her to work, pick her from work, worried that she gets angry, whenever she is quiet, i am worried, had to talk gently to her, so why wont she be categorised as my boss leh?? hehehe...

The entrance to the Gaya street Night market for CNY 2010. This night market happens only (i believe) on certain big occassion like the Chrismass, and CNY for example. Other days, you only get to see street, cars and a bunch of tourists..

Tonight, it was totally in celebrative mood..You hear GONG XI GONG XI songs everywhere, everything is practically in red, lanterns everywhere.. everyone is happy...
Seller happily cashing in, buyer happily parting with their monies..

One chinese proverb describe everything , but too bad, i dont write my own langguage.. just able to speak only.. another regret of my life.. and i dont feel like doing anything about it. hehe
Directly translated to english would be

people mountain, people sea..

Besides the stalls, there are also singing competiton going on. Mostly uncle and aunties, probably tired of strolling the stalls already.. so mai enjoy the show first ... some pretty good, which you should be since it is a singing competition, some i rather salute them for having the courage to even go on stage to open their mouth... clap clap

There are plenty of photog there that night, most armed with their big big telephoto lens, and only me with the tiny lil 50mm f1.8...
malu to go near them hahahha....
NEWS UPDATE: A photographer was being question and somehow seems to be going into custody for taking a picture of our local policeman while they were busy replying their sms'es.
No la, just a joke... apparently the policemen were impress with this photog and even ask him to show them the photo of which he took if the outrider bike of theirs..
Malaysian policeman are very friendly indeed...

one of the photog with his humungus telephoto lens..while the assistance (which role is to hold the photog water bottle) looks on..

The mood of the night...

"god, give me some air, i cant breathe in here.. By the way, can YOU please find me my mum?"

A lil girl waiting eagerly for the wouth-watering cotton candy..

taiwan grass jelly.. Nice.. a real savour for a hot and damp night...

the stone drawer.. artistic..

Sabah-born David Blaine, trying to impress.. but it seems the audience was a bit sceptical...

Good business..

Just to play with my 50mm, no story to tell...

THE RED LANTENS

The CNY must have delicacies..

a simple advice

plan what you want
do what you have planned
never regret on what you have done.
